Since Twin Snakes has the same controls and mechanics for the PSG1 as MGS2 it can’t be Raiden’s VR training. Metal Gear games have had over the top cutscenes since MGS2. Twin Snakes just does the over the top cutscenes more frequently then the other games. Also these cutscenes were what Kojima envisioned apparently.

Telling the tale of the legendary Solid Snake. Complete with over the top back flips and flying around on rockets. Bottom line. Play the PSX version first. Play Twin Snakes later as an addition to the series.

Jun 13, 2022 · I'm alright with twin snakes, but it completely butchers the tone that the ps1 game perfected. The changed music is nowhere near as good, the voice acting loses its sense of urgency at many times, the updated graphics are so-so, everything that the original MGS 1 did exceptionally, twin snakes fumbles to an extent.
