Apr 18, 2007 · 1993-1995 same. 1996 - 1998 redesign and dark blue plastics. 1999 - up engine redesign, brighter blue plastics but same design (1996-2001) 2000 - air box white & new front fender. 2001 - seat cover got black top. 2002 - redesgin with frame, swingarm and plastics changed and new kickstarter. 2004 - went to 48mm forks.

Oct 23, 2011 · When we stepped up to the 99s, way better. They just seem to get better as the years went on. Jr has now gone the four stroke way, with a 06 450 and I now ride a 06 YZ250. Just love the bike. Edited October 24, 2011 by hillclimbguy. the 460 is suppose to be 450.

Dec 29, 2017 · Ive always loved the versatility and fun factor a yz250 2 stroke has (track/woods/ whatever) and wanted more power- plain and simple- I own an Af500, a '15 yz450f and have had bikes for 20 years- I ride track intermediate and woods as fast as some of the better guys- a 450 in the woods was a tank- went right back to the yz after less than a season.

Oct 4, 2015 · If you want to beat guys on 4 strokes, or ride anything technical or just ride faster for longer, then: 1. The stock YZ250 1999-2015 motor doesn't have broad enough power. On/off pipe is stone age. 2. The stock suspension is too firm or harsh. The 250X will have broader power, mainly via the head and porting setup.

It was made by taking Yamaha 's manual recommendations and using the density altitude calculator to correct for altitude and temperature. -If you will be racing or running in open desert conditions, richen each jet by one size and the needle by 1/2 step.

Nov 15, 2022 · I don't recall if I have an 11 or 13oz, but I've been running one since '16 on my 14 YZ250. I put it on almost immediately but from the few through the yard test rides I did with the bike bone stock, it definitely tamed the hit as others have said.

When I broke my kickstarter shaft on my 02 2 stroke I replaced it with the 02 250f shaft with my gear.The shaft is identical only the gear on the shaft is different. Thats why the part numbers are different.
What pipe to get: DEP or HGS for my yz250 - ThumperTalk
Dec 2, 2015 · TYGA Stainless conned pipe is better then both of them, sort of combines the best of both of them. HGS is easily dented also compared to the DEP and TYGA. Fit wise; TYGA is perfect first time, HGS can be hit and miss- had a few over the years. DEP is a pain to fit as the stinger hits the rear of the casing above the kick start.

Aug 8, 2017 · The YZ250 is known for its lean spot at 3/8 throttle which is the needle. If you tune away the 3/8 lean spot and all its erratic surging etc. everything after that gets to rich and spoogie. The bike is either erratic and then runs clean up top, or pulls hard and clean the first half then dirty up top, or a little of both.
