Oct 13, 2020 · As for Rune factory 3, the characters and gameplay are unique but end up being not too special in my mind. I like the concept but it just falls a bit short. Still worth playing and since its more recent game, you might find it easier to play since it'll have more similarities to RF4. Rune factory 1 is dated. You might struggle playing this game.

Aug 23, 2019 · RF1 and RF2 have not aged well and the Wii spinoffs; Rune Factory: Frontier and Tides of Destiny are so different from the main series games that I wouldn’t recommend them as a starting point. That said, RF4 is getting a Switch remaster slated to release later this year, called Rune Factory 4 Special, though we don’t have a release date yet.

Hey, that's pretty much how I started off too! Was a Harvest Moon fan and stumbled upon Rune Factory. When I first came across it Rune Factory 4 had just come out. Though I originally played Rune Facotry: Tides of Destiny; RF4 is where it's at. The characters are all fun and unique.

I know 5 is the new one and all, but as a big fan of Harvest Moon: Animal Parade, namely the social Sim aspect, I'm leaning towards 4.
