FreeCAD vs DesignSpark Mechanical ? - FreeCAD Forum
Dec 17, 2015 · The main thing to know about DesignSpark Mechanical is that it's not really free. Yes, the 3D modeling part of the software is free, but if you want to make 2D engineering drawings (like most engineers will) you have to buy the DesignSpark Mechanical Drawing add-on. I don't like the deceptive marketing they're doing.

Jun 26, 2013 · I have searched the forums and the FreeCad tool help file but cannot find what I am looking for. I am an old school drafter, pencil and paper, and CAD software is relatively new to me. I am trying to figure out how to set the scale of the drawing, to say 1/8, 1/2, 1:.25, etc. Currently I am only trying to work in the Draft workbench.

Mar 9, 2022 · DWG and DXF are out for most of my drawings since they are 2d only in freeCAD. The full list in TurboCAD is: BMP, DGN, DWF, DWG, DXF, PLT, EPS, IGS, JPG, MTX, 3DS, SAT, SHX, STEP, STL, STP, WMF, WRL, WRZ, JPG, XLS. I know some of those are image or excel formats and not useful for what I need to do. KurtF.

May 27, 2019 · Thanks! However, I've met a practical problem with FreeCAD TechDraw and fillets in models, namely dimensioning filleted edges at angles. I made a simple model from a sketch that demonstrates the problem: There are two main dimensions: 50 mm width, and 40 mm height. I've subsequently padded the sketch, and filleted the edges with PartDesign.

I think this is simple setup for normal 80% mechanical users of Inventor / Solidworks / Soldegde / Catia. And menu of tree should be always on on left turn on (not hidden)

Oct 25, 2020 · The project. Building an easy to build replica of a Roskopf watch with 3D printed parts. All the parts are 3D printed, the hardware and springs are steel. The spiral is made out of piano wire, patiently hand shaped. A 3D printed spiral is possible. The motor spring is repurposed from a small engine pull start.
