It's not the best so if you don't know what you are doing on the internet, install a third party AV. If you are super careful on the internet, staying with Windows Defender is a good option.

Windows defender is any for a free product, it’s malware protection is low and it is easily exploited and has next to no customisation. Defender is very effective now not like old days , keeping a third party anti virus like McAfee is just waste from what I experienced . Just don't click on links in emails/texts, don't download more RAM, don't download that free game that seems to good to be true, use a password manager to manage all your passwords and accounts, use adblockers/anti trackers in your browsers and that will solve 99% of security issues.
