Mar 6, 2018 · Super smooth controls with instant response in-air and floaty slow jumps don't make for good platforming challenges, the fun part is using the physics to achieve difficult things. Mario 1 controls superbly to this day IMO, better than most Mario sequels, and very smooth/twitchy controls feel much less natural and primitive.
