I went to FSU and had a class with Scottie Barnes. His pants looked like he was wearing a diaper sometimes. I remember he wouldn't talk much in class or raise his hand and I thought he was just quiet but now I wonder how much he could actually communicate after watching him in the NBA.

Oct 15, 2023 · Answer: the sub you linked has the most weird and inexplicable trends and running gags. One of them is that Scottie Barns has autism because of his eccentric behavior. It’s unfortunately now become head cannon for some people that he’s autistic despite it never being confirmed by anyone.

The hate Barnes gets on this sub has nothing to do with Scottie Barnes himself, it has every that to do with how TOR fans on Reddit have acted over the past two years or so. TOR fans have been so insufferable it made a lot of people reflexively root against Barnes.

Autism can be mild and it can be intense. These played out jokes are at the expense of all sides of the spectrum. “High functioning autism” these days is being treated like some hot-potato mental disease where everyone is trying to sniff it out in anyone doing anything just a little “quirky” e.g. Scottie. It’s fucked and it’s sad tbh.
