May 5, 2020 · Personally, I would get the i5. Springing for the i7 puts you very close to 16" Macbook Pro territory and you get a whole lot more bang for your buck if you get one of those instead. Heck, if you go for an Apple refurb on the 16" it's only £40 more than the cheapest i7 13". Unless you really really want a 13" it doesn't seem worth it.

May 27, 2021 · Assuming you're talking about the mid 2012 MacBook Pro (9,2) that laptop benchmarks at 492 single core and 1068 on multi core for GeekBench 5. The 2020 i7 MacBook Pro 13" (16,2) gets 1350 single core and 4565 multi core score. There is a huge improvement over the single core score (~2.5x) and an even larger one on the multi core score (~4.25x).

Dec 15, 2010 · Higher end CPU (i7/Xeon) are multithreaded, i.e. 4 cores = 8 threads, where yours is 4 cores = 4 threads. So in rendering for example, the software would use 800% cpu processing (with 8 threads), in comparison to a single 'one core' processor would show 100%.

In the case of the 13", both i5s and i7s have 2 cores and 4 threads, so both have hyper threading. So the stuff you posted are all invalid. In desktops, the quad core i5 has 4 cores and 4 threads, while the quad core i7 has 4 cores and 8 threads.

For the 13-inch the fastest clock speed processor you could get was the 3.1GHz i7 dual core and 2.9GHz i5 dual core. The Mid 2015 15-inch MBPs only came with quad core i7 processors.
