Dec 19, 2024 · Now for the bayonet. The bayonets we purchased from England were marked with British markings. For those, we simply (in most cases) crossed out the Brit marks and stamped a crude U.S. in the same area of the crossed out marks. The vast majority of the new Model of 1917 bayonets are marked the same way as yours. Your bayonet was made by Remington.

Dec 14, 2024 · This is one of my bucket list bayonets. I finally stretched the finances to acquire this one. This is an 1861 dated bayonet which is the first year of production. This one was made fairly early in 1861 since it does not have the large wood screw in the guide slot which secures the wood grip in the later models.

I was just going through M7 bayonets on ebay and ran across one of the bowie blade leather handle M7 bayonets put together by SARCO years ago with surplus CONETTA blades and cheap leather handles, (they also produced a version with the standard two piece black plastic M7 handles).

Hence the reason for the rarity of the original uncut 10" 1943 dated AFH, it shouldn't have been dated if AFH followed a logical timeline of M1905/42 production dated 1943 --> M1 10 ...
