The Master edge drums were one level up and featured a patented molded bearing edge that looked like a reinforcement ring.

Mar 4, 2010 · I would feel awkward putting EVANS heads on REMO drums. Might cause a disturbance in The Force or something equally sinister. The Bass batter is a PS P3 Renaissance. Sounds great so I am leaving that in place for now. The reso looks like the stock black head that came with the kit with the huge REMO logo.

Mastertouch series drums are among the finest offered by Remo during the 1990s, only the MasterEDGE drumsets were above them, which featured a patented moulded bearing edge. $700 sounds fair if the drums are in excellent condition, but I've seen MT sets go for less.

Dec 21, 2007 · I endorsed REMO drums for 10 years. 86-96. Then the decision was made to not spend any more advertising money working the drums. The one pro drummer that still plays them, is Jeff Hamilton. He played the Mastertouch drums originally, but I believe his main set is the Masteredge set for the last several years. They both sounded great.

Oct 28, 2010 · They say "Remo UX Drum Head, Made by Remo in China" on them at 6 o'clock, with a Sonor logo at 12. They feel different. The coating is different, they seem thinner, and the metal hoop is smaller in size. Seems to be the same diameter though. Things are going to get more confusing if we have these semi-USA looking Remo heads floating around now!

Feb 4, 2008 · The badges will say which model (pics too small to read) but those drums are either Mastertouch or Masteredge drums with Acousticon-R shells which were offered in 316 or 516 thickness. These sets were Remo's top line drumkits in the late 90s, my Masteredge kit in the same Purple Sunburst finish I got at NAMM'98.
