Activist HM Venkatesh in his case alleged Virat Kohli promoted “gambling through IPL,” which incited the crowd and led to the tragedy.

A complaint was filed with the Cubbon Park police station in Bengaluru on Friday against Indian cricketer and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player Virat Kohli in connection with the stampede incident outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium that claimed the lives of 11 people and injured another 56.

In the complaint, a social activist has accused Virat Kohli of promoting what he described as ‘gambling through IPL’, alleging it incited the massive crowd that led to the tragedy. The activist further alleged that the IPL is ‘not a sport but a gambling that has contaminated the game of cricket.
