The end of February 2025 has not been reassuring in terms of job security for the technology sector, as a number of firms laid off employees.

HP has been doubling down on investments in artificial intelligence as well. The company is betting more consumers will buy its personal computers filled with AI tools. Earlier in February, HP acquired Humane AI — the maker of a wearable AI pin that flopped amid consumer complaints and bad reviews — for $116 million.

The details of the layoffs came shortly after HP reported higher revenue in its fiscal first quarter, boosted by what Chief Executive Enrique Lores said was strong demand for its new technologies.
