Dr. Joseph Giordano, a surgeon who played a central role in saving President Ronald Reagan’s life after an assassination attempt in 1981, has died. He was 84.

Edward Kelley had been convicted of plotting to kill the law enforcement officers who had investigated his case.

"Edward Kelley is remorseless and has shown neither a capacity nor desire to rehabilitate," said the prosecution.
