Frommelt, the only person in the car, was pronounced dead on the scene. Authorities identified Frommelt, who lived in Des Moines, on Monday afternoon.In the lead-up to the 2020 election, all eyes are on Iowa.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office hopes the woman’s identification can help provide closure to her family after 35 years.

"It is believed that somebody killed her. And so now we're investigating and trying to determine who may be responsible for her death."

Investigators have identified human remains discovered over 30 years ago off an embankment in Placer County as those of a missing Berkeley woman.
