On Thursday afternoon, Yellowstone helitack crews on an aerial reconnaissance mission detected the Ash Fire in the Bechler area located in the southwest corner of Yellowstone National Park, the park said in a news release.

In September, a 60-year-old New Hampshire woman broke through the thin crust of a thermal area and fell into scalding hot water, burning her leg, Nexstar’s KTVX reported. She had been walking her leashed dog with her husband off-trail in the park.

A 17-year-old hiker suffered “significant thermal burns” on his foot and ankle after coming in contact with a geyser at Yellowstone National Park on Monday, officials said.
