Immigrant communities in Kern County, California, are on edge as the U.S. Border Patrol has been seen conducting enforcement operations throughout the region this week.

While we're still awaiting a full, official statement from Border Patrol as of airtime, 17's Jenny Huh spoke with one agent on-the-ground who said it's not a widespread roundup.

Border Patrol was spotted in Bakersfield. Organizations like Loud for Tomorrow have posted on social media, highlighting that raids are currently underway in Kern County.

Amidst the transition to the Trump administration, Kern County became the focus of heightened Border Patrol activity, with agents stopping and detaining individuals, raising concerns among the local community.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz sent a warning to President-elect Trump over border rules as the incoming president continues his threat of taking over Greenland. Scholz said Wednesday that he spoke with several European leaders and the president of the European Council.
