The two tech giants are entering the race to create a pair of augmented reality glasses, competing with Apple and Meta.

Samsung and Google are teaming up to develop augmented reality glasses, aiming to compete with Meta and Apple in the growing AR market, with plans to leverage third-party developers for content and a potential launch by 2026.

The AR glasses being developed by Samsung and Google will reportedly run on Android XR. The news comes just days after Google announced its new operating system for headsets and smart glasses.

On the back of the Samsung-Google partnership on a headset (Project Moohan, pictured at top) announced in December, Samsung has said it expects to enter the nascent augmented reality glasses sector via another collaboration with Google.

Samsung Electronics Co (F:SAMEq). is set to enter the augmented reality (AR) glasses market, in collaboration with Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Inc.'s Google, according to TM Roh, Samsung (KS:005930)'s top mobile executive.
