Firefighters reported 0% containment on a wildfire straddling the border of New Jersey and New York on Sunday.
New York State Police said they were investigating the death amid the fire in Sterling Forest located in Greenwood Lake.
Wildfires brought on by extreme dry conditions have left parts of the East Coast in a dangerous haze this weekend.
