Jos Buttler hailed Adil Rashid as the ‘most important player’ in England’s white-ball team after he starred in the 26-run T20 victory over India in Rajkot. Having won the first two T20 matches, India would have taken an unassailable lead in the five-match series had they won the third game but the hosts fell 26 runs short of England’s 171-9.

Jos Buttler led from the front with 68 off 44 balls but the rest of England’s batters struggled in their first T20 against India which marks Brendon McCullum’s first match as white-ball head coach. McCullum is seeking to transform England’s limited-overs sides like he has done with the Test team,

India seized a 2-0 lead in their five-match T20 series against England as they won by two wickets in Chennai. India won the toss and chose to bowl first, with England scoring 165-9 thanks to high scores of 45 from Jos Buttler and 31 from Brydon Carse.
