The snow drought is officially over as snow, sleet, and freezing rain made its way across the Charlotte area on Friday.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport has officially measured 0.1" of snow. The record measurable snow drought of 1,077 days is officially over!

It should start as snow in Charlotte before at some point changing to sleet and freezing rain. There is still some uncertainty when it comes to exactly how much snow we will see here in Charlotte. All snow is expected farther northwest with up to 6 inches possible in the mountains.

Take it slow on the roads and allow extra following distance if you must head out through Saturday morning. Temperatures will remain below freezing.
