Air Canada's unionized flight attendants walked off the job early on Saturday morning after contract talks with the country's largest carrier stalled, in a move that could disrupt travel plans for more than 100,

The Montreal-based airline said labor negotiations with its 10,000 flight attendants are at an impasse and warned that the carrier may begin to shut down operations as early as Saturday without an agreement.

Flight attendants are demanding better wages and compensation for unpaid work. Currently, Air Canada only compensates flight attendants for the time they are in the air, but its attendants are seeking pay for the work they do before take-off and after landing, too.
