The musical focuses on Pulitzer and newsies who sell his papers. When Pulitzer raises the prices, 17-year-old Jack Kelly becomes one of the strike leaders.

Portraying Jack Kelly, the newsies’ leader, is Fairfax High junior Alejandro Cahoon. “He’s 17, charismatic and dynamic, has a bubbly personality and loves to crack jokes,” said Cahoon.

Newsies: The Broadway Musical tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy. After Joseph Pulitzer raises the price of newspapers at the newsboy's expense, Kelly and his friends take action.
