A renewed attempt to auction off the family home of Myanmar’s imprisoned former leader Aung San Suu Kyi has been unsuccessful as the property in a country embroiled in a civil war failed to attract any bidders.

Myanmar's junta failed in its attempt to auction Aung San Suu Kyi's lakeside mansion on Wednesday, with no bids submitted for the former democracy leader's home — the third time the sale has flopped.

Aung San Suu Kyi’s son has made a direct plea to the military junta in Myanmar holding her in solitary confinement to release her on the fourth anniversary of her arrest. The imprisonment of the democratically elected leader during the military coup on Feb 1, 2021, has been “deeply painful” but goes beyond a family story, Kim Aris said.
