Just two days in, the dog days of training camp have arrived for the Cincinnati Bengals. Cornerback Josh Newton puked a couple of times, defensive end Myles Murphy left practice on a cart to get an IV and wide receiver Tee Higgins felt some cramping and had a trainer stretch him on the sideline as the temperature rose to 89 degrees for the morning practice.
Cincinnati Bengals All-Pro wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase isn’t wearing a ball cap standing on the sidelines watching practice this year. He’s fully participated in every organized team activity (OTA) and mandatory minicamp this offseason and now is fully present and engaged at training camp.
“Simmons says wider receiver Charlie Jones (their top punt returner) and Jermaine Burton are going to see time as a kick-return tandem. In the second year of the new kickoff rule, Simmons is looking for sure handers. He anticipates opposing kickers to spray the ball more to force returns and take fewer touchbacks.”
