Apple has agreed to pay $95 million to settle a lawsuit that accused the company of turning its virtual assistant Siri into a snoop that eavesdropped on the users of iPhones and other trendy devices in a betrayal to its long-standing commitment to personal privacy.

Apple clarified on Wednesday that it has never sold the data collected by its Siri voice assistant or used it to create marketing profiles, just days after settling a case in which it faced such accusations.

An Apple spokesperson told Tom's Guide that Siri had never been used to build marketing profiles or sell information. The spokesperson stated that "Apple settled this case to avoid additional litigation so we can move forward from concerns about third-party grading that we already addressed in 2019."

A website to submit your claim is required to be set up within 45 days. After that, you have until May 15, 2025 to file your claim. If you don't want your iPhone actively listening to you for the same reason these plaintiffs brought their case, toggle off "Listen for 'Hey Siri' in the Siri & Search menu of your Settings.
