Former star outfielder Adam Jones is rejoining the Baltimore Orioles as a special adviser to general manager Adam Elias on top of being a community ambassador.  In an announcement Monday, the team revealed Jones will assist Elias in various areas as well as helping out the baseball operations department within the organization.

On Monday, the Orioles announced that one of the greatest players in franchise history, Adam Jones, will rejoin the team as a special adviser to executive vice president/general manager Mike Elias and a community ambassador.

The Orioles have officially brought back a long-time fan-favorite in former outfielder Adam Jones as he returns to the team in a special role.

Baltimore hired Jones, 39, as a special advisor to the general manager and community ambassador, the team announced Monday. He also agreed to join the on-field staff as a guest coach for spring training, which begins Feb. 12 when pitchers and catchers report to the Orioles’ facility in Sarasota, Florida.

Adam Jones may only be a special advisor for the Baltimore Orioles, but it’s clear he’s ready to make an impact on the franchise where he spent most of his career. Jones will work for general manager Mike Elias and also serve as a community ambassador for the club.

The front office vision shared by the newcomers who marched into Camden Yards beginning in the winter of 2018 required them to gaze into the past. To look back while also trying to push a flailing franchise forward.

The Orioles haven’t frequently shopped in the Japanese market for free agents but, after bringing former outfielder Adam Jones aboard in a front-office role, they might soon foray into that territory more often.
