New Zealand’s foreign minister says China has agreed to consider concerns that its military did not give enough notice before staging live-fire exercises in the waters between New Zealand and Australia last week.
Responding to question regarding Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of New Zealand Winston Peters' meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Wednesday, during which Peters raised concerns over China's recent live-fire drills in the Pacific Ocean,
China is also willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with New Zealand, and to work with it in multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation mechanism and the World Trade Organization to uphold the freedom and openness of regional trade.
China is ready to cooperate with New Zealand “to implement the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, enhance mutual understanding, and promote the sustained, sound and steady development of the China-New Zealand comprehensive strategic partnership,” he added.
