Logan Thompson stopped all 18 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season as Washington beat the Ducks.

WASHINGTON -- Logan Thompson made 19 saves, and the Washington Capitals extended their point streak to eight games with a 3-0 win against the Anaheim Ducks at Capital One Arena on Tuesday.

After struggling to build and sustain momentum at 5-on-5, the Capitals came out last night and put up a solid, complete effort in a 3-0 win over the Anaheim Ducks, handing them their second shutout loss in three games in the process.

The Washington Capitals look to extend their point streak to nine games when they visit the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night. Ottawa has a streak of its own, winning three games in a row after losing four straight.

Ethen Frank added his second NHL goal as Washington won consecutive games for the first time since before the Christmas break.

The Ottawa Senators return home with a tall order as they take on the best team in the East and League — the Washington Capitals. Washington leads the league with a 0.716 save percentage at 63 points in 44 games.
