Sidney Crosby can understand the frustration Connor McDavid was feeling on Saturday night against the Vancouver Canucks.

The Kings honored firefighters and first responders in the first game back in their downtown arena since the catastrophic wildfires that devastated large parts of Los Angeles.

The circumstances were particularly meaningful for Pittsburgh forward Blake Lizotte, who started his NHL career with the Kings and had 106 points (37 goals, 69 assists) in 320 games for them. This was his first game at Crypto.com Arena as a visitor, but the LAFD hat he wore after the morning skate reflected the larger circumstances.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have a well-deserved day off with some sunshine on Tuesday. They’ll be somewhere in the Southern California sun, even if it is only 55 degrees.

The Pittsburgh Penguins (20-21-8) were firmly in control until a pair of late second-period penalties. The LA Kings (30-11-5)  converted on a two-man advantage to close within 3-1 and seize palpable momentum.
