Vice President Kamala Harris spoke at a campaign rally in Atlanta about the death of Amber Thurman, who, according to a report by ProPublica, died after her health care was delayed because of concern about legal consequences from Georgia’s abortion restrictions.

The mother sisters of a Georgia woman who's abortion related death was deemed preventable by state maternal death review committee, shared their story with VP Harris and Oprah during a live stream event on Thursday.

"That story was the personification of the Black maternal health crisis," Harris campaign co-chair Sen. Laphonza Butler said of Harris’ retelling of Amber Nicole Thurman’s death at a Georgia campaign event.
