Major League Baseball announced during the first inning of the Tigers-Rays finale that Zach McKinstry was added to the American League roster for the game Tuesday in Atlanta. McKinstry, who finished third in the fan balloting at third base, joins starters Riley Greene, Javier Baez and Gleyber Torrez, along with pitcher Tarik Skubal.

McKinstry’s not necessarily going to hold his breath for the All-Star game. Even though his flexibility makes him a prime candidate to replace any injured or unavailable players currently on the All-Star roster, the call may not come to send him to Atlanta as a first-timer, alongside the four other Tigers set to compete.

Zach McKinstry did exactly what the Tigers needed to win on Sunday, something everyone on the team is ready to do.
