The backcourt duo of rookie Paige Bueckers and veteran Arike Ogunbowale combined for 40 points as the Wings shot 46% from the floor and soared to a 27-point halftime lead. With the win, Dallas is one victory away from matching its total from 2024, when the team finished 9-31.
Bueckers is now averaging 18.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists during her rookie campaign. She is shooting 45.0% from the floor and 32.9% from the three-point line. She also recorded a double-double in late May against the Minnesota Lynx.
Bueckers has admitted that she is desperate to partner with a real estate company so that she doesn't have to "pay for a house."
For Monday’s matchup with the WNBA champion New York Liberty in Dallas, Bueckers strolled in with a pink skater-girl vibe in the T-shirt and shorts. Heading into Monday’s macthup, Bueckers averaged 18.1 points, 5.6 assists, and 3.9 rebounds per game. She’s been an All-Star on and off the court.
Bueckers' teammate, forward Maddy Seigrist, looked visibly stressed trying to keep the Dallas guard corralled while on the bench. At one point, the rookie asked for a review with a finger twirl, and Seigrist hysterically pushed her hand back down. Just look at this poor woman. She was going through it.
