The rain-swollen Russian River reached flood stage in multiple places Wednesday in the wake of an atmospheric river-fueled storm that brought a deluge of rain and lashing winds to the Bay Area.  National Weather Service officials said the flood warning already in effect for the Russian River would last until at least Thursday morning.

As of 7 a.m. Wednesday, the Russian River in Guerneville had risen above 36 feet, entering the moderate flood stage, where waters typically inundate the Mirabel RV Park & Campground in Forestville. Multiple businesses and homes in low-lying areas likely experienced flooding. It’s unclear if the river has peaked in Guerneville.

The NWS says excessive rainfall is expected to cause flooding along the Russian River, affecting roadways and agricultural land.
