OpenAI is reversing course and said Monday its nonprofit will continue to control the business that makes ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence products.

The updated plan comes amid criticism from former business partner Elon Musk and others that the company was deviating from its original mission.

OpenAI has decided that its nonprofit division will retain control over its for-profit org, after the company initially announced that it planned to convert to a for-profit organization.
