Geoff Payne learnt about his son Liam Payne's drink and drug-fuelled death in an anguished phone call from one of the men facing prosecution over Liam’s third-floor hotel balcony plunge, it emerged today.

Liam Payne died on Oct. 16 after falling from the balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. His cause of death has reportedly been confirmed as polytrauma.

The results matched those previously released by Argentinian authorities in their investigation into the singer's Oct. 16 death following a fall from a hotel balcony.
