OTTAWA COUNTY, Ohio — The Coast Guard, in conjunction with Catawba Island first responders, rescued four ice fishermen who were stranded on an ice floe in Lake Erie Tuesday afternoon off of Catawba Island in Ottawa County.

The U.S. Coast Guard 9th District has been called to rescue at least four people trapped on the ice on Lake Erie, officials have confirmed.

The U.S. Coast Guard was among several agencies that rescued four people from an ice floe in Lake Erie. Air Station Detroit and Station Marblehead both received a report from the Catawba Island State Park Police at 4:34 p.m. on Tuesday and launched rescue crews.
