Many residents are trying to rebuild their homes that burned down, while others have moved to different parts of Maui or Hawai‘i.

According to a blog from the University of Hawai'i Economic Research Organization, about 430 to 510 Valley Isle residents moved out of state after the disaster.

While data predicted that Maui residents would leave after the blazes, many residents that were living in Maui during the fires did not leave the island.
