Farmers in Wales are on alert after a case of foot and mouth was confirmed in Germany. The disease was discovered in a water buffalo on a farm in Märkisch-Oderland, Brandenburg in the east of the country on January 10.

The UK ban on cattle, pigs and sheep imports from Germany does not apply to Northern Ireland.
