On a recent weekday morning, 15 volunteers showed up to move some 2,000 trees from the back of a truck to their spots in a tidy nursery behind the new Trees for Houston site in Garden Oaks.

Shepherd Drive in Garden Oaks, with financial support from Houston-based Summit Capital and Delta LP, and tapped Bellaire-based Fidelis to oversee construction of the new development.
