Forty-three Rhesus macaque monkeys escaped the Alpha Genesis Primate Research Center in Yemassee, South Carolina, on Nov. 6.

An additional 24 monkeys believed to be among 43 that escaped a South Carolina research facility last week have been recovered, and eyes are on a “sizable group” nearby, police said Sunday, NBC News reported.

Dozens of monkeys are on the loose in Yemassee, SC. This isn’t the first time primates escaped from the facility.

Officials are still struggling to recapture monkeys that escaped a research facility in Yemassee, South Carolina, last week. According to the Associated Press, as of Monday afternoon, 13 out of the 43 young female Rhesus macaques remain on the loose in the forested area surrounding the facility run by Alpha Genesis,
