The San Francisco 49ers drafted former Michigan football cornerback Ambry Thomas in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Thomas started for the mighty San Francisco defense before he suffered a fractured right forearm and was unable to play in 2024 -- the 49ers cut him.

NFL analyst Dane Brugler forsees a number of Wolverines getting their name called early on draft night, according to his latest mock in The Athletic.

One player who could have decided to move on to the NFL is tight end and fullback Max Bredeson, who was a team captain in 2024. After the ReliaQuest Bowl, Bredeson said of his decision, “ In the next week or so — I want to wait until after the season to figure out what to do. ”
