A Staten Island resident was among those in a criminal network targeting a journalist who was an outspoken critic of the Iranian regime, feds allege.

The men were receiving orders from a third man, who was working as an Iranian operative and was also involved in a plot to assassinate Donald J. Trump, federal prosecutors said.

Carlisle Rivera, of Brooklyn, Jonathan Loadholt, of Staten Island and Farhad Shakeri, of Iran, have all been charged.

Iran said the claim of a plot was an effort by Israel and Iranian opposition outside the country to "complicate matters between America and Iran."

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi denied U.S. charges that Tehran was linked to an alleged plot to kill Donald Trump and called on Saturday for confidence-building between the two hostile countries.

The Department of Justice just revealed that the FBI thwarted an Iranian attempt to kill Donald Trump before the election.
