SRINAGAR (Dunya News) - The newly-elected Legislative Assembly of Jammu and Kashmir passed a resolution on Nov 6, calling for the restoration of the region’s constitutional rights and statehood.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated that the Union Territory government aims to convey its disapproval of the 2019 abrogation of Article 370 and 35(A). Abdullah emphasized that the decision was made without consulting local leaders and asserted the need for their voices to be heard through the Assembly's resolution.

Lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha addressed the Assembly, partially resonating with public sentimentby committing to effortsaimed at restoring full statehood and constitutional guarantees for Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said people of the Union Territory had ‘found their voice’ after the passed of the resolution for restoration of Article 370, that gave special status to the former state and was scrapped in August 2019.
