A 3-year-old boy has died of injuries in the massive explosion of fireworks at a home in Honolulu on New Year's Eve.

The death of a 3-year-old boy on Monday raised the death toll in a massive fireworks explosion in Honolulu on New Year’s Eve to four.

A series of explosions caused by fireworks in a residential area left more than two dozen people with burns and other injuries, officials said.

Two people have been killed and more than 20 injured in a New Year’s Eve fireworks display tragedy in Hawaii. Police said they had responded to a “fireworks-related” incident in the Salt Lake area of Honolulu this evening and there were “multiple casualties”.

UPDATE: City officials identified the child as Cassius Ramos-Benigno. A 3-year-old boy died Monday of injuries suffered in a massive fireworks explosion on New Year’s Eve in Salt Lake, according to the Honolulu Police Department. He is the fourth person to die in the incident, which also injured around 24 others, many critically.

The explosion in Honolulu, Hawaii, killed three women and injured more than 20 people, many of whom have burns over most of their bodies and six victims remain in a critical condition in Arizona

Of the dozens of people injured in the blast many are facing a long road to recovery with burns covering between 45% to nearly 80% of their bodies

The six victims are in their 20s and 30s, and all have extensive burns, according to Dr. Kevin Foster, director of the Arizona Burn Center.

Six survivors of a massive fireworks explosion in Hawaii have been flown to Phoenix for treatment. This comes as we're learning a three-year-old boy died on Monday as a result of the blast, raising the death toll to four.
