CAIRO (AP) — The leader of important U.S. ally Egypt on Wednesday rejected President Donald Trump’s suggestion that Egypt take in displaced Palestinians from Gaza, defying a U.S. president who has shown little patience for dissent from international partners.

The president, calling the heavily bombed enclave “a demolition site,” proposed relocating Palestinians temporarily or long-term, a move rejected by Arab countries since the war began.

Meanwhile, on Jan. 27, United States (U.S.) President Donald Trump doubled down on his proposal to relocate over a million Palestinians from Gaza to Jordan and Egypt, The Wall Street Journal reported. Such a relocation would be a break with decades of U.S. foreign policy emphasising a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine.
