Norovirus cases are on the rise in the US. Here's what you need to know
Cases of norovirus appear to be on the rise in various parts of the U.S., according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. More than 90 norovirus outbreaks were reported during the week of Dec. 5, the most recent week for which data is available, according to the CDC.
According to CDC metrics through early December, outbreaks of the virus, which causes gastroenteritis, are on the rise.
There were 91 outbreaks reported during a week in December — more than double what was seen in previous years, the CDC says.
At this time, the facilities are not restricting visitation but it is highly discouraged until further notice.
