A swift-moving flood that swept through the Hill Country of west-central Texas Friday and killed at least 13 was a flash flood

Vehicles, campers and homes were swept away along the Guadalupe River in Kerr County, Texas, as storms caused a flash flood emergency in the area. A flash flood emergency was also declared in San Angelo further north of Texas Hill Country.

"Catastrophic" flash flooding along the Guadalupe River in Texas from Hunt downstream to Comfort has caused deaths, authorities said.
