With top-end talent at every level of its defense, a dynamic running back and Arch Manning, who's been waiting for his chance to take over the sport, the Longhorns seem poised to reclaim the CFP trophy for the SEC.

The power conferences have contracts with non-CFP bowls that expire after the current season, but old ties remain for the former Pac-12 members scattered across four different conferences. Like last year, the Pac-12’s previous bowls will choose from the league’s current (Oregon State and Washington State) and former members.

The CFP will release weekly rankings starting Nov. 4, with final selections and the 12-team playoff bracket announced Dec. 7
