Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada will look for opportunities to remove some counter-tariffs against the US, despite winning an election in which he pledged to fight back against President Donald Trump’s trade war.

After the US imposed a 35% tariff on Canada, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has said that he will talk to Trump when it makes sense. The US has increased the already imposed 25% tariff on Canada to 35%.

Carney noted that fentanyl entering the United States from Canada was "a rounding error" compared to other sources.
