a must stop to learn about a very forgotten part of American history. see the film before taking the tour. Full review by gearheadgary
My husbands grandmother came to Illinois on the Orphan train and was taken by a family. We know their name and would there be any other information that we might get in regards to who her parents were and where she may have been born? Her name was Mary Corliss Brinkman and some information that we have been able to find says that she was taken to be their maid and was never adopted by the Brinkmans but that was the name she gave when she got married. We plan on visiting soon and were wondering what information we might be able to get or give.

I don't know that answer but I do know who to ask. Contact Lori Halfhide, head researcher at the museum. She will know their capabilities.
a quick question about the Orphan Train Museum. You mentioned that it wasn't very handicap accessible--I use a mobility scooter-is there room to scoot around? thanks , Susan

Thank you.....previously I read a comment that indicated the museum was a little difficult to navigate for handicap people. Happy to hear that is not the case! Is Tripadvisor the best?!
